A641.8.3.RB-Personal Balance Sheet

Discuss your assets and liabilities with respect to how they behold you currently and for the foreseeable future (things I could do better or more often if I focused, or things I do well in some situations and could begin to apply more broadly).

Probably the most resounding characteristic that makes me a well-rounded and resilient individual is the fact that I’m a 100% realist. I’m very capable and able to live in the here and now, and see situations for what they currently possess and their fullest true potential. Now these characteristics are limited by my sphere of influence of course, because without tacit knowledge of a system or situation then you’d have no basis for your perception. I have many diverse interactions and being level headed and open is the key to being both mindful and applying compassion when needed.

Since being in leadership positions for several years now, I do miss out on maximizing my tacit knowledge in a particular area of concern that can better an origination in a particular sense. I’m really good at self-advancement in focus groups because I like to dive deeply into figuring out the root cause of problems and establishing solutions based practices that allow for more efficiency. This is problematic because leadership has taught many new leaders to be reactionary when events occur versus being proactive in seeking them out. I’d say that the new leaders of today should put fireman on their resume because that is the most practiced form of leadership.

One key area that I’d like to keep going after I’m long gone from my current position is being able to connect with individuals at the personal level. I have struggled many times in my personal and professional life and it would have been very beneficial to have a mentor invest some personal time into helping me to shape my emotional intelligence at an early age as to not live so many detrimental experiences. Though those experiences have helped me to become the well-rounded individual I am today, it would have just made my career more substantial and influential for both myself and my organization.

One area of key strength for an organization but a detriment to myself personally is the ability to pile loads of responsibility on me because I can balance many extreme situations simultaneous. This is definitely detrimental to me personally because by loading myself with difficulties, individuals lose out on the opportunity to meander through the problem solving process. This is also detrimental because the more I pile on, the more sacrifice I’m making and failing to have an appropriate amount of time for renewal. I have a very hard time finding time for myself and though I realize that this behavior is detrimental, I still to this day find conflict in doings things that I know will make me a better individual for those within my sphere of influence.
